African Weeks 2018 will be held

December 3 - 14, 2018

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies will hold "African Weeks 2018" from December 3 to 14, 2018. It is a series of events which TUFS students plan and organize to let people know about Africa better. African Studies Center - TUFS also cooperate in their efforts.

The theme of "African Weeks 2018" is "the various kinds of 'faces' of Africa". In recent years, the presence of Africa is growing and growing in the international society. Compared with previous years, we have more opportunities to gain information of Africa through media such as TV programs. However, it is too hard to understand all of Africa. Through our events, we hope you will find "faces" of Africa you have never known.

When opening a textbook of world history, you will find so little about Africa, even though it is a huge continent with various features and relations with other parts of the world. This exhibition highlights those things you may not know. Broaden your horizon with a bit more knowledge of Africa!

Those absorbed in the region, why is Africa special to them? We are inviting several panelists who have been in the region for study, travel and so on. Let's talk freely about any related topics with them. Ask any questions with "#africanweekstalkevent" on Twitter, and they will answer them! We welcome all of you, regardless of knowledge or interest.

Photo Exhibition about African Next Generation with 2nd TUFS African Photo Contest

Date: December 3 - 21, 2018

Venue: GALLERIA (1st floor of Lecture and Research Bldg.)

We will exhibit the photos that shows the usual life of African young people, such as fashion, love, marriage, studying, working and so on. You can find their reality through the photos. The exhibition is jointly organized by the non-profit organization "AFRIC Africa", African Studies Center - TUFS, and Oishi Seminar.

During the period, we will also hold the 2nd TUFS African Photo Contest organized by African Studies Center - TUFS, and Oishi Seminar. We will exhibit the photos that have some kinds of connections with Africa and have been taken by students, faculty and staff of TUFS.
