The inauguration ceremony of African Studies Center – TUFS

A ceremony to mark the inauguration of ASC-TUFS was held on Thursday May 11, 2017. The president of TUFS, Professor Hirotaka Tateishi, launched the ceremony with his welcome speech, which was followed by the inaugural speech of the Director of ASC-TUFS, Professor Shinichi Takeuchi (linked with the summary of speech). Congratulatory speeches were then delivered by invited guests, including Ambassador of Angola, His Excellency Mr. João Miguel Vahekeni and Professor Masayoshi Shigeta of Kyoto University. With the attendance of ambassadors and diplomats from 19 African countries, a number of prominent researchers from universities as well as research institutes, and senior officials of related governmental institutions including Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), the ceremony commemorated the launch of a new research center of African studies in TUFS.
