The lecture and film screening "Remembering Hara Setsuko: the early days" was held in memory of the actress, who passed away in fall 2015.

Dr Iris Haukamp (invited researcher from SOAS University of London) presented "Early hopes and dreams: Hara Setsuko as an international star in 1937".

Afterwards there was a screening of the 1937 "Atarashiki Tsuchi" (German title"Die Tochter des Samurais"), which made Hara an international star. Over 100 participants from Fuchu and beyond attended.
