Workshop "Learning from Japan-Taiwan Cultural Exchange" (Sep. 8th, 2014)

The fifth workshop of the "Japanese Language education tailored to local languages and cultures" Mother Tongue and Locality" project, entitled "Learning from Japan-Taiwan cultural exchange", was organized and hosted by the International Japanese Education Division of the International Center for Japanese Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

Speakers are Mineko BUNNO, University of Human Environments, Japan and Setsuko KUDO, Tunghai University, Taiwan, and its held at Room 104, Research and Lecture Building, TUFS Fuchu Campus on September 8th. 2014 marks the ninth year of the camp jointly organized by the University of Human Environments and Tunghai University, focusing on problem solving through student exchange.

The workshop began with an introduction of past exchanges, in which students experienced agricultural life and produced their own commercial promoting cultural exchange. The speakers then joined the audience of thirty in lively group discussions about the benefits for participating students besides improving their Japanese. Each group noted down keywords and then presented their findings.

Finally, the results of a PAC analysis of interviews with students who had participated in the camp were presented in the form of diagrams. Student-focused projects are becoming an important means of enhancing not only language education, but also international exchanges, by improving students'communicative and cooperative skills.
