Outbreaks of new coronavirus-related pneumonia and infectious disease (COVID-19) have been reported one after another since January 2020. Originally, the occurrence of COVID-19 was mainly inside of China, but recently it is reported that the number of COVID-19 cases outside of China was increasing much more than that inside of China, and the total number in the world is up to about 110,000 cases.

In Japan, measures have been taken so far to control the border and prevent the spread of infection, however, there are some occurrence of COVID-19 which are unknown of infectious routes in several areas. Furthermore, in some areas, small clusters of group infection have been occurring. However, at this time, there is not yet an area where large-scale spread has been observed.

If you have any suspicious symptoms of colds such as fever or flu, please refer to the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies’ "Guidelines for when symptoms of COVID-19 appear”. In addition, if you have diagnosed as “COVID-19 or if you have been identified as a close contact with an infected person, please refer to the website and take action according to the guidelines.

It is extremely important to continue individual infection prevention to prevent the spread of infection. Furthermore, protection from infection by individuals would lead to prevention of infection in the community and society.

For details on prevention of personal infections, see Hokesen Letter 203, etc.
