COVID-19 infection (2nd report, on October 23)

October 23, 2020

To all students,

This is a follow-up to the report on the new coronavirus infection among our students dated on October 21 (Wed.).

As a result of the health center's on-site investigation, 13 of our students have been identified as close contacts with the infected student before the onset of symptoms. All of the students, the infected and the 13 close contacts, have been ordered to stay home for a fixed period of time.

Now that the above investigation and measures have been carried out, the campus entry restrictions have been lifted today. (There will be no face-to-face classes today, October 23.) From Monday, October 26, face-to-face classes will resume, as well as extra-curricular activities such as club activities and preparations for the GAIGOSAI. Thank you for your cooperation.

The infected student is being treated at home and their fevers are reported to have been lowered. We hope that close contacts who have been ordered to stay home will stay as healthy as ever.

TUFS will continue to cooperate with the public health center to prevent the spread of infection. Nevertheless, everyone is at risk of infection. As is generally known, the risk of infection can be greatly reduced by avoiding eating and drinking in groups, wearing masks, and washing your hands. We urge you to refrain from coming to the university if you are not feeling well. Please be careful and pay constant attention to infection prevention in everyday lives.
