【Student Manual】What To Do If You Have Symptoms of COVID-19

Follow the guidelines below if you have a fever or suspicious symptoms of COVID-19. Please monitor your health as much as possible, and measure your body temperature every morning.

1.First day of symptoms

If you have any symptoms such as a fever, headache, sore throat, runny nose, cough, general malaise/fatigue, or a body temperature of over 37.5 °C (even without other symptoms):

Please do not come to the university and classes. Also please do not participate in extra-curricular activities. But there is no need to stop attending online classes.

(1) If you have any symptoms, including fever, please call your family doctor, and consult how to see doctor and how to get COVID-19 test.
If you have trouble consulting your family doctor, you can call and consult a “call center for COVID-19” *.

(2) If you meet the following conditions, please consult your family doctor or “call center for COVID-19” * immediately.
・those who are experiencing breathlessness (dyspnea), extreme malaise/fatigue, or high fever
・those who have underlying conditions which are prone to become severe, such as diabetes, heart failure, respiratory diseases, undergoing dialysis, and taking immunosuppressant or anticancer medication.

Thereafter, please take your temperature twice a day (morning and night), and record this alongside any symptoms you have.

2.Until two days after symptoms appear

1) If symptoms such as fever, headache, sore throat, runny nose, cough, and malaise/fatigue continue:

Follow the ‘Action’ of the “1. First day of symptoms” guide, as written above.

2) If your physical condition, including symptoms such as fever, cough, and general malaise, has completely recovered without taking any medication:

At least 2 days pass after your condition has recovered without taking any medicine, you can come to school and attend your classes. Also, you will be able to participate in extra-curricular activities. Please try to prevent infection by wearing a face mask, washing hands and practicing cough etiquette.
In addition, if you visit a medical institution, you will be allowed to come to the university after getting the confirmation from the doctor that “the disease is completely cured”.

3.Three days after symptoms appear

1) If symptoms such as fever, headache, sore throat, runny nose, cough, and malaise/fatigue continue for four days (including if you need to keep taking antipyretic):

Please consult your area’s "call center for COVID-19" *.
In addition, when you visit a hospital or clinic, please wear a face mask, thoroughly wash your hands and practice cough etiquette - make an effort to avoid spreading the infection.

2) If your physical condition has completely recovered without taking any medication:
