Selected as the Priority Program under the Japanese Government Scholarship~ PCS Course to foster Professional for post-conflict peacebuilding ~

We are proud to announce that in December 2022, “PCS Course to foster Professional for post-conflict peacebuilding” situated under Peace and Conflict Studies Course, Master’s program in Global Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies has been designated as the International Priority Graduate Program under the Japanese Government Scholarship.

With this, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies has two programs that have the priority allocation of the Japanese Government Scholarship students. This designation is valid for three years.

a. Program title
TUFS Japan Studies Program – Interdisciplinary Approach to Japan
Designation: 2021 Academic year
Description: To nurture "human resources with knowledge of Japan" who can correctly understand Japan from an international perspective and communicate Japan to the rest of the world.
Expected number of grantees: 8
Acceptance started: April 2022

b. Program title
PCS Course to foster Professionals for post-conflict peacebuilding
Designation: 2022 Academic year
Description: The main objective of the program is to train and reeducate professionals who are involved in post-conflict peacebuilding in Africa and other parts of the world. We aim to nurture human resources who will be widely active in international organizations, international non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions in their home countries and around the world (including Japan).
Expected number of grantees: MA 3, PhD 1 (in principle, proceeding directly from PCS-MA course)
Acceptance starts: October 2023

Priority International Program under Japanese Government Scholarship
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) will give preferential allocation of Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship students to outstanding graduate and undergraduate programs for international students. This scheme aims to increase the number of excellent international students and strengthen Japan’s international competitiveness. In the 2022 academic year, a total of 70 programs (65 graduate and 5 undergraduate programs) had been selected.
