Ambassador of Lithuania Visits TUFS

November 21, 2022

On November 10, 2022, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Japan, H.E. Dr. Aurelijus Zykas, delivered a lecture on “Lithuania-Japan Relations, Its History and Current Situation” to a class of TUFS undergraduate students. Ambassador Zykas spoke in fluent Japanese about Lithuania and Lithuanian-Japanese relations to a joint session of the School of Language and Culture Studies' History of Russian Literature class (taught by Professor Kyoko Numano) and the World Liberal Arts Program’s Understanding the Lithuanian Language World II class (taught by Lecturer Eiko Sakurai). The students listened attentively and asked many questions, and Ambassador Zykas was impressed by the high potential of the TUFS students.

Ambassador Zykas was appointed to his post this year. He previously taught at TUFS’ partner university, Vytautas Magnus University, and was instrumental in the establishment of a TUFS Global Japan Office (GJO) there. He also served as coordinator for the GJO. Ambassador Zykas has contributed to the dissemination of Japanese studies in Lithuania and Lithuanian studies in Japan and we are hopeful he will help to further strengthen the relationship between TUFS and Lithuania.
