April 15, 2021

On Friday, April 9, an online signing ceremony was held to conclude the establishment agreement of a Global Japan Office (GJO)* between TUFS and partner university Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Prof. Gulchehra RIXSIYEVA and President HAYASHI Kayoko attended the meeting. Vice President MATSUKUMA Jun (International Affairs) moderated the presentation, while Professor SHIMADA Shizuo (Institute of Global Studies) and Professor KIMURA Satoru (Institute of Global Studies) were also present. The GJO was originally planned to be launched last year, however, it was postponed for a year due to the coronavirus. In spite of the year-long postponement, the two sides were able to reach an agreement online.

Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and TUFS concluded an academic exchange agreement in August 1997, and have since enjoyed a long history of exchange. Every year, we exchange about 3 to 4 students with each other. So far, nearly 10 students from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies have completed our graduate course.

Mutual exchange and education on both sides is expected to further develop through this GJO agreement.
