Persian Poetry Anthology on Russo-Japanese War Donated to TUFS

April 30, 2020

On March 26, 2020, TUFS Management Council member INOUE Masayuki (current Chairman of the Japan Education Exchanges and Services Foundation) gifted “An Illustrated Historical Account of the Russo-Japanese War, or the Far East War” (translated by ミール・ハーゲルハーン・タブ), a Persian poetry anthology on the Russo-Japanese War, to TUFS.

This rare book is over 110 years old, and was handed down to Mr. Inoue by his father, who was a Persian language specialist for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Inoue himself is an alumnus (1972) of TUFS’ Indian/Pakistani Languages major. Initially working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and then serving as the Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh, Mr. Inoue is currently the Chairman of the Japan Education Exchanges and Services Foundation, and in 2019 became a recipient of the Order of the Sacred Treasure (Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon).

The gifting was attended by Mr. Inoue, TUFS President HAYASHI Kayoko, and TUFS Library Director NAKAYAMA Toshihide.
The gifted book will be available for use to TUFS students and other users of the TUFS Library.
