TUFS Holds Screening of “Star Sand” with Director Roger Pulvers

August 22, 2019

On Wednesday the 10th of July, TUFS Cinema held a screening of the film “Star Sand” (2017) at AGORA Global’s Prometheus Hall.

This film depicts a prayer for peace as the story jumps back and forth between two eras and places; wartime Okinawa and modern Tokyo. After the screening, TUFS Cinema invited the film’s director, Roger Pulvers, to the stage for a talk session with TUFS Professor NUMANO Kyoko.

Despite being held on a weekday, many people attended the screening. Attendees left comments such as “both the film and the talk were magnificent. I was fascinated by how poetically they both spoke.” and “I loved the director’s warm personality and passion for Japanese literature. After hearing his talk, I decided I will definitely read his book that the film was based on”.

The talk session is available to view on the official TUFS YouTube channel, YouTube:TUFS Channel.
