Members of the Czech Senate visit TUFS and Meet with TUFS Czech Language Majors

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, Mr. Jaroslav KUBERA, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, and His Excellency Mr. Martin TOMČO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic visited TUFS. As TUFS has a Czech language course, members of the Czech senate visited the university on the occasion of their official stay in Japan.

President Kubera and Ambassador Tomčo had a meeting with Vice President MATSUKUMA Jun, Professor SHINOHARA Taku (Institute of Global Studies) and Associate Professor KANAZASHI Kumiko (Institute of Global Studies). TUFS has three partner institutions in the Czech Republic and has 20 years of history with them, including student exchanges. The Czech speech competition hosted by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Japan marked its 25th anniversary this year, and students majoring in Czech at TUFS actively participated. During the meeting, President Kubera expressed his appreciation and gratitude towards these activities. The meeting contributed to acknowledging the significance of education in building mutual cultural and political understanding and ties between the two countries.

After the meeting, members of the Czech senate, Prof. Shinohara, Assoc. Prof. Kanazashi, Visiting Assoc. Prof. Markéta Bruna-GEBHARTOVÁ (World Language and Society Education Centre), alongside undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Czech talked (in Czech) about cultural exchange and the activities of the Czech language students. Afterwards, 8 students joined the lunch party at the University restraunt "Tokubetsu Shokudō" and enjoyed a relaxed lunch.
