May 23, 2019

On Wednesday the 13th of March 2019, the 2018 International Exchange Student Graduation Ceremony was held in AGORA Global’s Prometheus Hall.

At this ceremony, 55 MEXT Scholarship undergraduate students, four MEXT Scholarship research students (studying since fall 2018), five Japan-Korea Joint Science and Engineering Exchange Program students (also studying since fall 2018), six MEXT Teacher Training Program students (studying since fall 2017), 22 TUFS MEXT Scholarship research students and 56 privately-funded research students, who were studying at the TUFS Japanese Language Center for International Students, were awarded with completion certificates.

After an opening address from TUFS Vice President Kayoko Hayashi and Director of the Japanese Language Center for International Students, Ms. Tomoko Fujimura, a congratulatory address was given by Mr. Naohisa Matsuda from the MEXT Student & International Student Affairs Office, and TUFS alumnus Willy Hioe. Student representatives of the MEXT Scholarship Undergraduate Program and the MEXT Teacher Training Program gave speeches in Japanese, expressing their gratitude towards the teachers at the center on behalf of their classmates from around the globe, and sharing the experiences in their time at TUFS that led them to the paths they have chosen to follow next. Following the ceremony, a farewell reception was held at café CASTALIA, and students sadly but cheerfully celebrated the bonds they made with their friends and teachers at TUFS.
