October 1, 2018

On Thursday the 27th of September (2018), a press conference on the “Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research”, a joint program starting in April 2019 between TUFS, the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT) and The University of Electro-Communications (UEC), was held at the Hitotsubashi Hall.

At the press conference, speeches were given by President Takayuki Ohno (TUAT), President Hirotaka Tateishi (TUFS) and President Takashi Fukuda (UEC), which was then followed by a speech on the details and journey of the program from inception until now from Trustee for Public Relations and International Affairs, Mr. Takayuki Okayama (TUAT).
After a lively round of questions and answers with the reporters, the three presidents shook hands, and the press conference came to an end.

This new program will aim to develop human resources who will contribute to solving the problems facing international society such as environment and energy, production and consumption, labor, hunger and poverty. In order to do this, the three universities will combine their respective educational and research resource-related strengths, and develop doctoral level human resources knowledgeable in both the humanities and the sciences. Please anticipate great things from the Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research.
