International Students Participate in Minyo-nagashi at Fuchu Citizens' Cherry Blossom Festival

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, about 20 international students from TUFS participated in the Minyo Nagare (folk dance performance) at the 53rd Fuchu Citizen’s Sakura Festival (March 15-24) held in Fuchu City. The participation was made possible with the support of the TUFS International Student Support Association (Chairman: Professor Emeritus Kazuaki Tani) (link: https://www.tufsissa.com/).

The participating international students attended a pre-dance training session held on Friday, March 15 in cooperation with the Fuchu City Central Culture Center and the Fuchu City Minyo Association, and then participated in the dance on the day of the event. International students who did not participate in the dance also cheered on the participating students as spectators. Although the cherry blossoms did not bloom in time for the day of the festival, the international students enjoyed the dance wearing yukata (light cotton kimono).
