Lecturer Eiko SAKURAI awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order for Merits to Lithuania

Lecturer Eiko Sakurai was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order for Merits to Lithuania for her many years of contributions to Lithuanian language education and other activities at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and other Japanese universities and institutions. The Presidential Office of the Republic of Lithuania intended to confer the Order in the spring of 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Sakurai was unable to travel to Lithuania. Eventually, the award ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Tokyo on Monday, June 26, 2023. Professor Emeritus Kyoko NUMANO of the University of Lithuania and others gave congratulatory speeches, and the ceremony was a harmonious one.
