Notice on the Full Summer Vacation

In order to prevent further covid infections and help with the realization of a low-carbon society we will have a full summer vacation from August 7 to August 15. Through this we also hope to aid the stopping of global warming and save energy. Offices will be closed and access to TUFS’ campus will be restricted during this time. We ask for your cooperation.

1) About the closing of the offices and stopping of certificate issuing

Offices have been closed due to the spreading of covid 19, however, we won’t be able to respond to phone and email inquiries during the summer vacation. Also, certificate issuing (including those done on the machine) will not be available.

Period: August 7 (Sat) - August 15 (Sun)

※It takes three days to send Japanese certificates from the day the application is received. English certificates and teaching profession related certificates take seven days.
※Certificates issued by the exchange students department take between seven to ten days to be sent.

2) Campus Access restrictions

Restricted period:

Other than faculty and staff: August 6 (Fri) 20:00 - August 16 (Mon)
Faculty and staff: August 11 (Wed) - August 15 (Sun)

Restricted area: All Fuchu campus’ building (except TUFS International Residence)

Faculty and staff members won't able to unlock the entrance with their campus card. In case of an emergency, you must go to the administration building and tell security staff why you need to access the building. After writing down your name on a special entering list, you can enter the building after unlocking the entrance under the supervision of security staff.

※Notes
Electricity won’t be working on August 7 due to an inspection that will take place on that date (TUFS International Residence will have electricity as it uses a different line). All electricity devices will not work so make sure to unplug them before this date. Beverages and foods kept in the fridges must be taken away before the power outage. Faculty and staff members that have a campus card can access the building between August 8 to August 10. Students, however, cannot enter the building.

3) Student Support facilities that will be closed in these dates

The following facilities will be closed from August 6 (Fri) 18:00 to August 16 (Mon) 8:30.

  • Health Care Center
  • Student Inquiries Room
  • Global Career Center
  • Academic Support Center
  • Volunteer Space (VOLAS)

4) Notice on the closing of the library

TUFS’ library will be closed during the following date.

Period: August 7 (Sat) - August 15 (Sun)

※ The library will be temporarily closed on August 10 (Tue)
※Automatic doors will not be operating so the book return post cannot be used from August 6 (Fri) 17:00 to August 16 (Mon) 10:00.

5) Co-op stores

All TUFS’ university co-op stores will be closed during the following period.

Period: August 7 (Sat) - August 15 (Sun)

Stores will be operating shorter hours from July 26 to September 30. (They are closed on weekends and holidays)

  • Book shop 12:00 - 13:30
  • First floor cafeteria 12:00-13:30
  • Seikyo 12:00 -13:30
  • Second floor cafeteria will be closed until September 30

6) Contact in case of an emergency

Face-to-face and telephone reception will be not available during the summer holidays.
