TUFS Begins Joint Development of the English Speaking Test BCT-S

February 22, 2018

On Thursday the 7 th of December, at the New Business Presentation of the British Council in Japan, the British Council in Japan and TUFS signed a contract regarding the joint development of a new speaking test, the "British Council-TUFS Speaking Test for Japanese Universities" (abbreviated as BCT-S).
This project is an attempt by TUFS, which has been a leader in language education in Japan for many years, and the British Council, which contributes to the improvement of English education across the globe, to develop the speaking test BCT-S that can be used for university entrance exams. Our university plans to start utilizing this test as part of the entrance exam for the TUFS School of Japan Studies (currently in development) from February 2019.
The signing ceremony began with a greeting from His Excellency Mr. Paul Madden, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in which the ambassador described his expectations for the project. Afterwards there were greetings and signings by TUFS President Hirotaka Tateishi and Mr. Matt Burney, Director of the British Council in Japan. Afterwards detailed explanations were made about the project by TUFS Vice President Kayoko Hayashi, Professor Masashi Negishi, and Ms. Chie Yasuda, Head of Examinations Services at the British Council in Japan. Please stay tuned for further business developments.
