For more than 30 years TUFS and SISU have been actively conducting education and research exchanges.
This visit was Dr. Li's first since assuming office in June earlier this year, and following the establishment of the Global Japan Office at SISU, and SISU's joining of CAAS, the Consortium for Asian and African Studies (an initiative lead by TUFS), opinions were exchanged on topics such as the expansion of student exchanges between the two universities, and the promotion of Japanese and Chinese studies in an international context.
Aside from Mr. Sho Hagio and Vice President Minoru Iwasaki, the meeting was also attended by Professor Emiko Hayatsu (Dean of the Institute of Japan Studies) and Professor Yukari Sawada (Institute of Global Studies, Chinese Area Studies). It was confirmed that relations between TUFS and SISU would be further promoted.
The SISU delegation also met with Professor Masato Iizuka (Director of the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, ILCAA) and Professor Nobuaki Kondo (Modern Iranian History). Information on the deepening of ILCAA's research exchanges, concerning Asian and African languages and cultures, was exchanged while the guests perused various ILCAA publications, rare language dictionaries, and foreign language textbooks.
