May 31, 2017

On Wednesday 24 th May 2017, Mr. Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the embassy for the Republic of Cuba in Japan, and Mr. Ramon Nunez, Counsellor for Science and Technology, paid a visit to President Tateishi and company, and took part in an informal meeting. In April, President Tateishi visited the University of Havana to give a special lecture and to sign a student exchange agreement. In addition, we accepted two MEXT students in April, who along with one research student who arrived in Japan last September make three Cuban exchange students enrolled at TUFS.

Along with conveying his gratitude for the education received by the exchange students, the ambassador expressed his hope for a lively exchange with the university in the future. President Tateishi requested the Ambassador's attendance at the commemorative event for the 120th anniversary of Spanish language education at TUFS, which is to be held in October.

This September, we have planned for university president Gustavo Suarez Cobreiro to visit TUFS and to expand our exchange with Cuba.
