Partnership Formed with the Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences, Rwanda

On Thursday 27 ^th October 2016, a partnership agreement was formed between TUFS and the Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences (PIASS). After celebrating the agreement, there was a lecture entitled "Justice and Reconciliation Following Violent Conflict- What I Learned Living 11 years in Rwanda from Grassroots People" given by Mr. Sasaki Kazuyuki, senior lecturer of the Department of Pace and Conflict studies. Beginning with the African area studies majors, around 60 from the university attended and had a vibrant discussion.

PIASS has the Department of Peace and Conflict within its Faculty of Development Studies, and is a unique University that combines theory and practice. We hope for an active exchange with TUFS, which covers the fields of African area studies and Peace and Conflict Studies.

At TUFS, since the establishment of the African area studies course in the School of International and Area Studies with the department reorganisation in 2012, we have been strategically expanding relations with Sub-Saharan Africa. Agreements were formed with the University of Zambia in 2013 and with the University of Zimbabwe in 2015. This year, agreements were formed with the University of Pretoria (South Africa) and [ チャン大学 ] (Cameroon) in August, and the University of Ghana in September. The Protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences is the sixth university since the opening of the African area studies course.
