Dr. Christopher Gerteis (SOAS) welcomed to CAAS Unit

Dr.Christopher Gerteis (History) from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, one of the member organisations of CAAS, took up a new post at TUFS on Saturday 1 st October 2016. Four days prior, on Tuesday Dr. Gerteis met with President Tateishi and had an informal discussion.

Dr. Gerteis will be residing at TUFS until the spring term of 2017, and will be in charge of the 'Japanese Modernity' unit for the 'Japan Studies 2' course during the autumn term of this year.

At TUFS, as part of the Program to Enhance the Functions of National Universities, in order to promote international Japanese research, we are conducting invitations to the Consortium for Asian and African Studies (CAAS) Unit. CAAS Unit is a consortium for Asian and African research carried out in the world's top seven leading institutions in Asian and African research which invites active foreign Japanese researchers, and is a unit composed of both Japanese and foreign researchers. CAAS Unit is constructing and maintaining bases for a network of international Japanese research through collaborative research with researchers domestically and overseas, not only from within this institution.
