Yesterday it was the first day of TISLR.

https://www.idgs.uni-hamburg.de/en/tislr2019.html

Topic-Comment
Noun Adjective

The first keynote presentation by Jordan Fenlon was interesting.
E.g. BSL, unlike English, is said to be of OSV word order,
of Topic-Comment order, etc. but these features are only
small parts of what actual BSL is and it is not a good way
that BSL learners only get stopped at that point.

TTM(マダガスカル手話)を教えることも無いけれど、

I, unlike Fenlon, am not ready to pursue corpus study on
TTM (Malagasy Sign Language, Tenin'ny Tanana Malagasy),
but from a few linguistic consultants, I have observed
various styles and various registers.
I do not teach TTM either, but I know that it is not a good
choice/start to tell students that TTM has ◯◯ word order.

From the posters, a study by a French man on writing systems
was interesting. It will be published soon in a journal.

Keynote

Karen Emmorey's study, having gathered data
from voltages emitted by the brains, was interesting.
It seemed most of the studies were psychological
linguistics or studies related to neurological sciences,
which are out of reach from me.

BTW, I got a chance to talk to Susan Fischer about S.-Y. Kuroda's "categorical and thetic judgement". She knows it quite well and she said it overlaps with the Topic-Comment studies.
