As the closing event of the exhibition "Feel Africa: Message Through Arts and Lens" which will finish on July 6, 2022, we will hold the art & music event "Massage Through Arts and Music" on July 4, 2022. The event is compsed of music concert and talk session for graphic arts.

In the concert, we will perform 3 songs: a song in Wolof "Momy" sung by a Senegalese musician, Thione Seck, a Ghanaian folk song "Senyiwa", and a song in Swahili "Baba Yetu" composed by Christopher Tin, based on the Christian prayer. TUFS students including students from African countries will sing and play guitar, African music instruments such as a djembe, and violine. We will distribute lyrics sheets, so why don't you sing with us?

In the talk session, Mr. Paul Kani Bahoya, an exchange students from Protestant Institute of Arts and Sciences in Rwanda and a multi-talented artist from DRC, will explain stories and message behind his graphic arts which are exhibited at the exhibition "Feel Africa". We will ask the audience to share what they feel and what kind of message they receive from each art, so that we can see the diversity of artworks. We'd be grateful if you can write your reflections on a sheet we will distribute at the event.

The event will be held at Central Plaza on TUFS campus. It is open to public, and no registration is required. We will also display the artworks of "Feel Africa" exhibition, so it is a great opportunity for people outside of TUFS to enjoy it!

Event Report

Although we had to change the venue into the Research and Lecture Bldg. due to the bad weather, many people, including people from outside of TUFS, came to see the event.

The event was led by Brandon from South Africa, the event MC, 11 African students and 25 Japanese students participated in the performances. Although we only had a few hours for practice for each performance, we believe that all of us, including the audience, were able to achieve the most important goal which is "to feel Africa" and "to enjoy ourselves".

You can watch each performance from below.
