自己紹介 / Biography

外国語を学習したり、外国人向けの日本語の教科書を手に取ってみたりするとよく分かりますが、私達は普段何気なく使っていることばについて、知らず知らずのうちに、思いもよらないほど複雑な仕組みを頭の中に獲得しているものです。そのような無意識的に身に付く知識の体系やその習得メカニズムを研究するのが言語学です。私は、言語学の中でも、文が語などのより小さな単位からどのように作られるかを研究する「統語論」と、私達が語や文の意味を理解できるのはどのような仕組みが背後にあるからなのかを研究する「意味論」の分野を専門に研究しています。研究対象言語は，主にマレーシアやシンガポールで話されているマレー語です。特にマレーシアで話されているマレー語は「マレーシア語」とも呼ばれ、本学でもこの名称を採用しています。日本語や英語をはじめとする複数の言語の対照研究も積極的に行っています。

授業は、マレーシア語専攻の語学とマレー語学関連の授業を担当しています。マレー語は、英語などのように動詞が主語や時制に合わせて変化したり，名詞にどんな冠詞が付くかで悩まされることがない他、アジアの言語であるためか、発想方法も日本語とよく似ています。ですので、日本人にとって習得しやすい言語の一つだと思います。マレーシア、シンガポールは多民族・多言語国家で、旧英国植民地ですので、マレーシア専攻での学習を通じて、マレー語だけでなく、マレーシア、シンガポール特有の、標準英語とは異なる英語の言い回しや、複数民族の共生のあり方についても学んでいただけると思います。私が担当するのは、マレー語、マレー語学関係の授業ですが、国際社会で通用する、高い語学力、思考力、そして教養を備えた人材の育成につながるように心掛けております。
