The schedule for the issuance of the ICC account (TUFS account) will be posted by the end of March on the website of the Information Collaboration Center at TUFS. If you do not have an ICC account, you will not be able to register for classes and obtain a Zoom ID for online classes.

Eligible:All new 3rd year students.

*All new 3rd-year students must take the TOEIC-IP test. Applicable students will be sent the URL for examination registration by ELC to the official email address of TUFS(@tufs.ac.jp). Please check it and take the examination during the period.

■ Graduate School of Global Studies orientation and course guidance: On campus

For newly enrolled graduate students

Student ID cards

  • Will be distributed at the language major orientations for newly enrolled students in the schools of Language and Culture Studies and International and Area Studies, except for newly enrolled students majoring in Oceania and Africa area studies and 3rd year transfer students (See below).
  • Newly enrolled students majoring in Oceania and African area studies in the School of International and Area Studies will be given their ID cards at their respective orientations.
  • 3rd year transfer students in the schools of Language and Culture and International and Area Studies will be given their ID cards at the orientation for 3rd year transfer students.
  • Newly enrolled students in the School of Japan Studies will be given their ID cards at the School of Japan Studies orientation.
  • Students newly enrolled in the graduate school (master’s and doctoral programs) will be given their IDs at the Graduate School of Global Studies orientation.

Note: Students who were unable to attend their orientation will need to pick up their ID card later at the Student Affairs Office.

→ Cancellation can be done through the Education Information System. ( You can cancel registration but cannot register for new classes.)

IMPORTANT:

Class registrations that you have cancelled will be marked on your academic transcript as “W” (withdrawn) and will not be counted toward your GPA though the credits for the class, but will be counted toward the annual limit of 50 credits.

About the Education Information System

You can register your classes through the Education Information System. You can also check the System for information regarding your classes, such as messages from the instructor, cancellations, etc.

Online Classes

The 2024 spring quarter classes will be held either on campus or online.

Online classes will mainly use Zoom, MOE(Moodle for Open Education), Google Classroom, and other such platforms. Please make sure to get a proper network connection at home. Watch the following video to prepare. Some videos may be for previous academic years or quarters, but the basic procedure is the same.

How to get a Zoom ID/Password

Codes for Zoom, Google Classroom, MOE(Moodle for Open Education), etc., will be sent to you through the Education Information System by your class instructor.

You can confirm by going through the following steps.

  1. Log in to you Education Information System.
  2. The top page will show you a calendar. Go to the date for your classes.
  3. 3. Click on your classes to get details.

Classrooms where you can take online classes

You can take online classes in the following classrooms: Research and Lecture Building, rooms 206 (with partitions). On days and hours when no classes are held, you can take online classes in the PC classrooms.

*Seats are limited. We encourage you to take online classes at home if your schedule allows

Setting up your network environment and computer

You can take online classes on-campus but we ask you to take them at home if possible. Please make sure to have a computer and a stable internet connection ready for the spring quarter.

Setting up an ICC account

You will need an ICC account in order to access the TUFS network, information on online classes, and the Education Information System.
An ICC account can be acquired by the following two steps.

  1. Take an IT literacy course  
    We will provide you an ID and password for the course. (The date will be updated once it is decided).  
    Use the ID and password to take the online class.  
    ICC will verify you if you have completed the class.
  2. Getting the Account  
    Students who have completed the class will be notified on how to get their official account.
    Follow the steps to download your official account information.

IMPORTANT

  • Information regarding account acquisition will be sent to the email address you provided online when you enrolled.
  • After the entrance ceremony, all notifications will be sent to your university email address provided along with your ICC account information. Be sure to complete the IT literacy class during March so that you have your account by the day of the entrance ceremony.
