Project on the Elaboration of Educational Materials for Foreign Children

We are working on the elaboration of educational materials for foreign children who are enrolled in Japanese public schools to assist them in learning. Currently, educational materials for Brazilian children living in Japan are made available to the public. As well, we are planning to develop educational materials for various languages including Filipino.

Provision of Support for the Consultation Meetings of Tokyo Supporting Network for Foreign Residents

To the “Relay Professional Consultation for Foreign Residents” hosted by Tokyo Supporting Network for Foreign Residents, the Center sends its teaching staff as volunteer interpreters.

Commissioned Projects from the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR)

The Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) is an organization comprised of international exchange organizations from all prefectures and designated cities in Japan. In 2006, CLAIR designed the “Local Multiculturalization Promotion Project” with the following pursuits.

  • A: Creation of the content for providing multilingual information in times of disaster and a manual for using it.
  • B: Elaboration of a human resources development curriculum and its educational materials for supporters of foreign persons in times of disaster.
  • C: An investigative research for developing a multilingual interpretation system which uses communication devices.
  • D: Collecting and sharing of information on ethnic media published in Japan.

Of the above pursuits, the University has been commissioned to engage in B, i.e., “Elaboration of a human resources development curriculum and its educational materials for supporters of foreign persons in times of disaster”, and we have been working on the task following formation of a work group within the University. As its deliverables, we have created the following educational materials for developing lingual supporters.
