| Key Words | Forest ecology and ethnobotany related to NTFP in protectetd area in Cameroon |
| Research Interest | In African countries in general, and Cameroon in particular, natural resources, including Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs), represent many goods and services that are beneficial to the livelihoods of populations who depend on them. However, sustainable management of these resources is limited by a little knowledge regarding their availability, distribution and regeneration dynamics within their ecosystems. This information is essential for their sustainable use, particularly in Protected Areas, whose creation gives regulated access. Indeed, indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) living in conservation landscapes depend on non-timber forest products (NTFPs) for their well-being. However, restricted access to these resources at conservation areas often puts pressure on them at the periphery, raising conservation concerns. Therefore, it is essential to provide baseline data on the use of species, their availability and their natural regeneration potential, to plan the sustainable management of NTFP species and combine forest conservation with people's interests. |
