【作品のあらすじ / Summary】

大学生のエミリー。真面目な性格で勉強熱心だが、気の合う友達を見つけるのに苦しんでいる。ある日、講義の後、個人番号順で振り分けられた学生二人とグループプロジェクトの打ち合わせをする。途中からほかの学生二人は身内の話になり、エミリーはそれに入れず孤独を感じる。エミリーは都合があるからと言いその場を発つ。外で気持ちを整えていたところ、同じ授業を取っているブレーキーから声をかけられる。会話を経て、エミリーはブレーキーのバイト先のカフェまでついていく。その日カフェでは、数年前に亡くなった写真家の展示が行われていた。エミリーが、その展示で出会った一枚の写真とは…？ Emily is a university student struggling to fit in. One day, while preparing for an upcoming group presentation with her peers, she starts to feel left out. As she leaves for some fresh air, she is approached by Blakey, an amicable student who works part-time at a cafe. Emily follows him to the cafe where she comes across one photograph…

【作品のあらすじ / Summary】

アフリカにルーツを持つ高校生アークとまや。多様なルーツを持つからこそ、学校や日常生活の中で多くの悩みや葛藤を抱えてきた。映画をつくる過程で、二人はそうした経験や考えを互いに共有した。抱える葛藤を音楽やアート作品に表すなど二人の共通点もあった。多様なルーツを持つ二人が対話をしながら、多様性の難しさと、その先の豊かさの可能性に向き合うセルフドキュメンタリー作品。Ark and Maya: All Mixed Up follows two teenagers, Ark and Maya, who are both of Japanese and African descent. In this documentary, the two sit down and share their experiences about being different, feeling isolated and overcoming their challenges. Apart from their similar backgrounds, art is another common ground they use as an outlet for their emotions. Directed, narrated, and edited by Ark and Maya themselves, Ark and Maya: All Mixed Up is not only a reflection of the complexities of a person with a mixed identity, but also a testament to how being different enriches a person.

【作品のあらすじ / Summary】

ウガンダと日本のミックスで、日本で生まれ育ったアーク。高校２年の夏休みに、ショートムービー「Hair」を作りました。「小さい時、自分の髪が嫌いだった自分へ。今までの道のりがあったからこそ、自分のヘアはとってもとっても大事なもの」。撮影・編集も自身で行い、似た境遇の女の子に届けたいと制作しました。“Hair” is a short video Ark made in the summer of 2020. She reflects on her journey of how she started loving her natural afro hair, which she was insecure about her whole childhood.

今春高校を卒業し、現在は独学で映像制作を学んでいる。アフリカンユースミートアップ代表。Ark Miura is an aspiring movie director. After graduating high school this spring, she is studying movie making by herself. She is also the founder of African Youth Meetup.
