A lecture by Emel Akçalı on Syrian Refugees in Adana, Turkey (Tuesday, June 13)

On Tuesday, June 13, GDC will host a lecture, "the New Aleppo: the Neighbourhood Experiences of Syrian Refugees in Adana, Turkey and the Limits of Refugee Governmentality," by Emel Akçalı, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at Swansea University, Wales.

Dr. Emel Akçalı's teaching and research interests span the state, society, conflict and politics in the Middle East and North Africa, social movements, upheavals and (trans-)formation of collective identities in the age of globalization, the limits of neoliberal governmentality outside of the Western realm, critical realist philosophy and non-Western and alternative globalist geopolitical discourses.
