Measures to Prevent Misconduct in Research Activities
Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) is taking measures to prevent misconduct in research activities based on the Guidelines for Supervision and Auditing of Public Research Funds at Research Institutions (Implementation Standards) (decided by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on February 15, 2007, revised on February 18, 2014) and the Guidelines for Responding to Misconduct in Research (decided by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on August 26, 2014).

We have established the following code of conduct regarding research activities and the management and administration of public research funds.

We have clarified the system of responsibility for preventing misconduct in research activities.

This stipulates necessary matters concerning the management and administration of research funds, prevention of misconduct in research activities, and measures to be taken to deal with any misconduct arising in research activities in a strict and appropriate manner.

Anyone who suspects misconduct in research activities at the University, whether inside or outside the University campus, can report or consult with the Contact Point for Reporting or Consulting on Research Misconduct.

Allegations of Suspected Research Misconduct
Allegations must be made in writing, stating the name and contact details of the reporter. However, the reporter may request their name and personal details to be kept confidential in subsequent procedures. If you wish to keep your name and details confidential, this information will not be disclosed to anyone outside the Contact Point for Reporting or Consulting on Research Misconduct. However, it may not be possible to carry out a full investigation of the facts. If you decide not to keep your name and details confidential, only a small number of committee members involved in the investigation will be informed of your name. Your name will not be disclosed without your consent. The investigative committee members have a duty of confidentiality.
