December 19, 2025
On December 10, 2025, students enrolled in the class “News about Germany - News in German II” visited the German Embassy in Hiroo, Tokyo, as part of their class activities. During the visit, they had the opportunity to engage in a discussion lasting over an hour with Mr. Heinrich Hubbe, Head of Public Relations at the German Embassy.
Mr. Hubbe provided a detailed explanation of the public relations and media operations of both the German Embassy and the German Federal Foreign Office. He also shared insights into the current state and future outlook of Japan–Germany relations. In addition, he introduced the career paths and responsibilities of German diplomats, offering concrete examples that helped deepen the students’ understanding of diplomatic work.
Throughout the discussion, students asked a wide range of questions related to media and diplomatic affairs, to which Mr. Hubbe responded thoughtfully and thoroughly. The opportunity to converse directly in German allowed students to apply their language skills in a real-world context while gaining valuable knowledge about the role of the embassy and Germany’s position in international affairs.
This visit provided a meaningful experience beyond the classroom, enriching the students’ academic engagement and deepening their interest in international relations and diplomacy.
