TUFS Crisis Management Headquarters conducts Earthquake Drill

November 25, 2025

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, a Crisis Management Headquarters drill was conducted simulating an earthquake with a seismic intensity of lower 6. This drill followed the evacuation drill conducted on Tuesday, November 11, and was implemented to confirm the university's system for making swift and accurate decisions during a disaster.

During the drill, members of the Crisis Management Headquarters and leaders of each response team gathered. The Crisis Management Headquarters, headed by the President, comprised seven teams: General Affairs/Public Relations, Facilities Management, Evacuation Guidance, Emergency Medical Care, Information and Communications, Safety Confirmation, and Rapid Response. Each team collaborated to provide initial damage reports and issue response instructions.

Under the simulated scenario, reports were made regarding transportation stoppages, signal malfunctions due to power outages, safety checks of campus facilities, medical aid for the injured, evacuation guidance, and safety confirmation. The President issued specific instructions to each team. The Emergency Medical Aid Team and Evacuation Guidance Team cooperated to treat the injured, while the Rapid Response Team assisted with organizing evacuees, demonstrating responses designed for an actual disaster situation.

Following the drill, participants exchanged opinions, sharing challenges and areas for improvement. Finally, President Haruna, as head of the Crisis Management Headquarters, provided a review, aiming to enhance awareness for strengthening future crisis management systems.
