University-Wide Disaster Drill Conducted

November 12, 2025

On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies conducted its annual university-wide disaster drill for students and faculty members. The drill included a shake out drill*, guided evacuation to the outdoor athletic field, safety confirmation via the ANPIC system, and rescue/firefighting training led by the Fuchu Fire Department.

TUFS regularly conducts large-scale disaster drills based on its Disaster Response Manual and Earthquake Preparedness Manual, aiming to strengthen safety awareness and emergency readiness across campus.

*The shake out drill involves three key safety actions during an earthquake: (1) Drop down low, (2) Cover your head, and (3) Hold on until the shaking stops—performed wherever you are (classroom, office, or outdoors).
