President Hayashi Visits Turkey, Renews Agreement with Ankara University, Meets with Alumni

President Kayoko Hayashi visited Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey, for five days from Wednesday, September 4, 2024, to meet with the presidents of partner universities, the Japanese ambassador to Turkey, and alumni.
On Wednesday, September 4, the first day of the trip, a “TUFS Global Community Meeting” was held. The purpose of this meeting is to form a network with local alumni and support current students studying abroad, and is held on occasions when faculty members travel within Japan or overseas. A total of 10 TUFS alumni and former government-sponsored international students working at the Japanese Embassy in Turkey and local companies, as well as TUFS students on embassy assignment, participated in the meeting and met with President Hayashi. On the same day, President Hayashi also met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Takahiko Katsumata of Japan to Turkey.
On the following day, Thursday, September 5, a signing ceremony was held to renew the academic exchange agreement with Ankara University, a partner university of TUFS. The two universities confirmed their cooperation with Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar and others, and signed the agreement.

After that, from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8, President Hayashi attended Japanese Studies in Tuekey Conference 5: A Century of Turkish-Japanese Diplomatic Relations held in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Japan at Boğaziçi University (Istanbul), a partner university of TUFS, where she delivered a keynote lecture.
