Screening of the Indian film Lage Raho Munna Bhai

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, the TUFS Cinema South Asian Film Special was held at the Prometheus Hall in the Agora Global building. The 500-person capacity venue was almost filled with visitors from inside and outside the university.

The screened film, Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), was directed by Rajkumar Hirani, known for the famous 3 Idiots (2009). Mika Fujii, a TUFS graduate and an active English/Hindi film translator, made the Japanese subtitle.

After the film screening, a full-time lecturer of TUFS Hindi department, and a historian, Kyosuke Adachi, gave a commentary on the film. He explained the film's central theme, including "Gandhism" and "Gandhigiri", and the diversity of the Hindi language and linguistic difficulties in the Japanese script translation before the audience.
