Associate Professor TOJO Bumpei's joint research results with JAXA published on EO Dashboard
June 10, 2025
Associate Professor TOJO Bumpei of the Institute of Global Studies (specializing in Geographic Information Systems) has had the results of his research conducted last year in collaboration with JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) published on the EO Dashboard (Earth Observing Dashboard), an online platform jointly operated by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), ESA (European Space Agency), and JAXA. This platform enables the visualization and analysis of changes in the global environment and socio-economic activities based on Earth observation data.
This research focused on nighttime light observations and analyzed human activities in urban and rural areas under the theme of “Nighttime Lights: Observing Earth at Night from Space.” Students of TOJO's Research Seminar also collaborated in the creation and analysis of data for this research. This was a very meaningful initiative from an educational perspective as well.
