[[FrontPage]] *Spring 2008 [#fc8e5384] **Title: Automatic Analysis of Learner Language (LL) [#gddfd64b] ***Aims [#nd7fc2b1] -To understand the basic concept and value of automatic analysis of LL -To acquire skills of processing LL texts automatically --basic concordancing --POS tagging --Syntactic parsing --N-gram extraction -To learn the latest lexical profiling techniques using: --WordSketch --Wmatrix ***Programs [#rba48f5c] -Initially, I thought I was going to use the materials presented at the CALICO preconference workshop on the same topic, but most of the papers were not as cutting-edge as I thought, so I changed my mind and will prepare my own materials. -Since there are some novice users of corpora, I would like to give a brief introduction on corpus linguistics, tools & resources available for language teachers. -Then we will focus on the automatic aspect of language analysis, using concordancers, with POS taggers, parsers, etc. -Finally we will briefly look at the lexical profiling software such as Sketch Engine and Wmatrix.
