自己紹介 / Biography

　1990年代初頭にマレーシアについて研究を始めた当初は、「アジアの縮図」ともいえる多民族社会マレーシアのユニークさに惹きつけられていました。最近は、マレーシア社会と日本社会との間の共通性や関連性にも興味が湧くようになってきています。マレーシアや東南アジアについて学ぶことを通じて、人間と社会に対する理解を少しでも豊かにしてゆきたいと思います。
　これまで、主に、英領マラヤにおける植民地教育と「マレー世界」像の形成に関する思想史研究に取り組んできました。そのほか、独立以降のマレーシアにおけるナショナリズムと民主主義にまつわる政治史、マレーシアや東南アジアの都市や郊外の社会史などにも関心を持っています。
　授業では、マレーシアや島嶼部東南アジアの政治や社会の構造と変化をどう捉えたらよいかを、歴史的視点を踏まえながら伝えたいと思います。マレーシアや東南アジアから世の中を考えるきっかけづくりをしたいと考えています。
