Information About Special Programs at PCS

PCS Global Campus

The PCS Global Campus Program is a key initiative at PCS, through which we aim to broaden the scale and scope of research and education in the field of peace and conflict studies internationally and especially within countries recently experiencing conflict or in the post-conflict phase. Particularly because peace and conflict studies has a strong international focus but is a relatively new area of study, it is important that academic programs in different countries and regions develop academic sharing and partnering programs.

Through PCS Global Campus, we are establishing new cooperative networks of academic and non-academic organizations involved in training and research, through which we can expand and improve our own research, academic programs, and practical training, as well as contribute to the development of the field as a whole. Current initiatives are focused specifically on: jointly developing curriculum, special intensive courses, and online and distance learning; organizing faculty and students exchanges, field research and practical experience for students, and international conferences and events; and, lastly, sharing knowledge and increasingly the visibility of peace and conflict related issues.

The PCS Global Campus Program was launched in late 2006 with substantial funding from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology [MEXT]. Our current partner institutions include Kabul University (Afghanistan), Pannasastra University (Cambodia), Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), and the University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka).
