I went out to watch the movie "Boy Erased."

I could relate so much to this movie
although I have never been sent to a conversion therapy.
プロテスタントのキリスト教徒として育てられて、

They all mean good, the pastors, other Christians,
conversion therapists, etc. They all want you to
be in a better condition being cured from homosexuality.
みんな、良かれと思ってはいるんですよ。
牧師も、他のクリスチャンも、治療を施す活動をしている人も。
みんな、クライアントが、同性愛から「治癒」して
より良い状態で暮らすことができることを望んでいるんです。
But they are almost always wrong.

The protagonist Jared in one scene
holds hands with Xavier on a bed and
don't do anything further.
It reminded me of the movie Bent,
where two gay protagonists,
in a Nazi concentration camp
just holding hands with each other
and "came."
主人公のJaredがXavierと手をつないだまま
寝て、何もしない場面があるんだけど、
映画Bentで、２人のゲイの主人公が
ナチスの強制収容所で、
苦役をしているときに手をつないだだけで
イッちゃった場面を思い出しました。

One of the reasons why I left Protestant Christianity is that
some pastors make sermons condemning homosexuals.
僕が、プロテスタント教会を去った１つの理由は、
牧師が同性愛を糾弾する説教をすることがあるから。
That harmed my mental health quite a bit.
そのことが、僕の精神的健康を損なうのに大きな役割を果たした。
In my church that I go to now, no priests would make such a
sermon although when asked in person, some of them may
condemn homosexuals.
今の教会では、その様な説教をする司祭はいない。
勿論、面と向かって聞かれたら、同性愛を否定する人は
いるでしょうけれども。
That's a big difference.
