The student oriented event "African Weeks 2021" will be held from November 29, 2021 to December 10, 2021 both onsite at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and online. The event is jointly organized by African Studies Center - TUFS.

The event is planned and organized mainly by the students who belongs to African Studies Course, School of International and Area Studies, TUFS in order to share the attractions of African countries and the problems they face with people. The aim of the event is to eradicate negative images on Africa and make people feel familiar with African countries and cultures.

The theme of "African Weeks 2021" is "sharing". The following is the brief translation of the introduction of the event.

We think it is indispensable to "share" and "sympathize" experiences and thoughts in order to build inclusive society where anybody can shine in the modern world where the socail division is spreading more and more. Although African continent is located geographically quite far from Japan, we're sure that we can feel close from each other psychologically. We also believe that we can build a good relationship by sharing experiences and feelings with each other not as an "African" or "Japanese", but "a person".
