(Q) What is the activity of C-DATS after "21st Century Centre of Excellence Programme"?

(A) "21st Century Centre of Excellence Programme" by MEXT has been completed in FY 2006. The programme committee thinks highly of our achievement at the posterior assessment. We believe that the documentation in Afro-Asian languages receives international recognition. After the programme, C-DATS extends its activities in TUFS. Thank you for your continued cooperation.


(Q) Where is your office? What are your opening times?

(A) TUFS is placed at Fuchu city of Tokyo Metropolis. Please refer to the following TUFS official site to find the campus.

(Q) How can I consult C-DATS collection?

(A) "Books" and "periodicals" are stored in the TUFS library closed stack. You can use these materials according to the rules of library service. These are catalogued at the TUFS OPAC (Online Catalogue). To overview the collection, enter "HUB*" in the "call number" column from detailed condition search page. Some of rare books have been digitized. You can browse the full page images at Prometheus-Academic Collections.

"Microfilms", "broadsides (such as maps and posters)" and our "research reports" are preserved at C-DATS office. Proof of ID must be shown to use these materials. If you wish to consult our research reports including transcription by Oral Archives Groups, contact C-DATS office for further guidance in advance.
Microfilm reader-printer is available at TUFS library. Prescribed fees will be charged for the printing of microfilms. Materials owned by C-DATS office is to be returned by 15 min. before closing time.


(Q) How can I access to Dilins (Digital Library Network System for C-DATS) ?

(A) Digital Library Network System (Dilins) has been transferred to TUFS library system (Prometheus Academic Collections). Prometheus Academic Collections is the system to store and disseminate the research & educational achievements of the TUFS community. The collections include the bulletin papers, dissertations, research papers, and historical archives. Please refer to Prometheus Academic Collections for details.

(Q)How can I ask for a copy of centre's publication?

(A) Centre's publications are not for sale. We are not allowed to send our publications to bookstores and wholesale distributors, but we can distribute them directly to libraries, universities/institutions and researchers. The publications with stock are for free, provided that postage will be charged extra. As postage depends on weight and country, inform us of particular title(s) you wish and your address. Journal of the Centre for Documentation & Area-transcultural Studies, nos.1-9 are also available online at Prometheus Academic Collection.

(Q) What should I do for a permission to reproduce C-DATS publication?

(A) Tokyo University of Foreign Studies manages the rights of public transmission and reproduction regarding C-DATS publications. You do not have to seek permission for personal use and academic quotation. If, however, you wish to reproduce our publication for such uses as inclusion of images in your publications, exhibitions, marketing campaigns and public electronic media, you will need to contact C-DATS office for guidance and clearing reproduction rights.
