GDC director, Yasuyuki Matsunaga, and two GDC research associates, Mostafa Khalili and Sohrab Ahmadian, have jointly been awarded a 2024 "Asian History Research" Grant by the JFE 21st Century Foundation based in Tokyo, Japan. The proposed research is titled "The Geopolitical Location of and Socio-Religious Changes in the Eastern Region of Southern Kurdistan," and will be for a one-year period starting in January 2025.
