This essay identifies various meanings of the concept of “peace” by referring to the English School's three traditions of international thoughts. Realism leads to “peace” as the absence of war. Rationalism leads to “peace” as the maintenance of order. Revolutionism leads to “peace” as the realization of justice. These there conceptions of “peace” are interrelated, but represent three major ways to understand the concept of “peace.”
