I use 2-grams and 3-grams to analyze the pattern. --The collocation patterns of the verb "get" in JEFLL In JEFLL, the verb get collocates most frequently with the noun "money" in 2-grams. In addition, "money" is also the most frequent at the +2 position. get money (37) get ( ) money (73) Although there may be influence of topics, the learners use the verb "get" in the meaning "to receive sth or to obtain sth." This is supported by looking the another frequent words; otoshidama, food or information. --The collocation patterns of the verb "take" in BNC --The collocation patterns of the verb "get" in BNC The most frequent pattern is "get hold of." get hold of 423 VVI NN1 PRF get hold of 67 VVB NN1 PRF get people to 64 VVI NN0 TO0 get things done 50 VVI NN2 VDN As this is a collocation, it is hard for learners to use such a expression. However, we excepting the collocation, the use of the verb "get" seems to be different. Verbs follow "get people to." And, "done" in the pattern "get things done" is the past participle. Native speakers seems to use the verb "get" as a causative verb.
