Spring 2008 †
Title: Automatic Analysis of Learner Language (LL) †
Aims †
- Review the cutting-edge research into an automatic analysis of learner language
“Automatic”: natural language processing techniques applied for learner language analysis
- Papers based on the resources presented at the preconference workshop at CALICO 2008 with the same title as above:
- Only PPT slides are available, so understanding the slides may not be so easy, but we can try.
- The major purpose is to get to know how learner text is analyzed and how much automatization can be possible. Let's evaluate the method critically
Activities †
- Choose one paper with PPT (no poster, please).
- Look at the PPT file and figure out the meaning:
- If there is any important reference, read it.
- If there is any technical information you need, list it.
- Make your own comments and implications for SLA and ELT.
- Present your report with your partner using PPT.
- Discuss the paper with your classmate.
