要旨

本稿では，指示詞「そんな」を含む「そんなＸ…」文について，その基本的な意味機能，そこに観察される感情・評価的意味の実態，感情・評価的意味が生じるしくみの３点について考察を行った。「そんなＸ…」文は，先行文脈で示された性質・特徴を，何らかのより一般化された概念としてまとめあげ，「そんなＸ」にまつわる言述を行う。また，感情・評価的意味が観察される特徴的な表現として，「そんな＋形容詞（相当表現）＋Ｘ」「そんなもの／こと」「そんな私」などの表現が観察される。さらに，先行文脈で述べられた性質・特徴が話者から見て「価値・意味がない」ものとして一般化され，まとめあげられる場合に，「そんなＸ」に“否定的”な感情・評価的意味が観察され，また，事態を「想定外」あるいは「実現の可能性が低い」ものとして述べるという「そんなＸ…」文に特徴的な言述において，「そんなＸ…」文に「予想外」という感情・評価的意味が観察される。

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the emotional and evaluative meanings of the "sonna X..." construction. In its anaphoric usage, the "sonna" of "sonna X" refers to the qualities or features of the thing or matter given in the preceding context. "Sonna X" develops the generalized or schematic concept from those attributes along with other features implicitly categorized into the same group. "Sonna X..." carries two types of emotional or evaluative meanings. One is a "negative" meaning, caused when the speaker generalizes the qualities or features as subjectively meaningless or worthless. The second carries the nuance of "unexpectedness," and is caused when the speaker implies that the situation is either unexpected or has little possibility of becoming realized. These usages are exemplified in typical expressions such as "sonna + adjective X," "sonna mono/koto," and "sonna watashi."
