Introduction to Sibwesa Village
Mwenyekiti Amlos Tembwe
Sibwesa is a traditional Bende village from old time. It used to be a mining spot of mice. There spread two Bende chiefdoms, Bhusyamba and Bhughwe.
- History of Bhughwe:
There are two Bhughwe in Bende-land today. One is north of Katuma, the other in the south of Katuma, i.e. Sibwesa-Nkungwi area. In old time there was only south Bhughwe. The original town of Bhughwe is Ilobha. In sometime some Bhughwe people went to trip to north area, today's north Bhughwe. They found there were open area with any people, so they decided to live there, and named there Bhughwe following there original country. The south Bhughwe chief decided to put there watch men who were called Kalinda which means 'watch man'. Name of Kalinda has remained until today as a dominant clan name in north Bhughwe. So the original Bhughwe is the south one. And this is why there are same place names in both countries, such as Mwikang'ombe.
